Jennifer (Jen) Harp

Founder & Licensed Professional Counselor

With nearly a decade of experience, Jennifer decided to serve the youth and families of Wyoming in a more personal way by opening her own practice, Northern Star Counseling, llc. Northern Star Counseling specializes in improving the mental wellbeing of adults, youth and families. Jen believes in using an assortment evidence based, effective techniques to help her clients achieve optimum wellness and results. Such techniques include Thought-Field Therapy used to treat trauma memories, cognitive-behavioral restructuring interventions in order to correct irrational and unhealthy thoughts and thus positively influencing behaviors, play therapy to reach children and thorough assessments and evaluations to determine diagnosis. Motivational Interviewing may also be used in order to facilitate clients in realizing their own needed areas for change. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy principles can help clients to regulate their emotions and find balance in their lives. Treatment plans are individually customized to fit each client's unique circumstances. Jen has worked both as a clinician and an administrator in a variety of settings such as residential care and outpatient clinics in the community. Jen believes that the best results are achieved by working closely with families, their support systems and resources in the community. In addition to directly providing services, Jen works closely with a respected, local psychologist in order to provide a comprehensive range of services and assessments.
